Percussions are the most ancient musical instruments after human voice. Their use was unbreakably bound with every human expression and was enriched by the variety of social and religious celebrations. Therefore, in every civilisation, a plethora of percussions was developed to serve certain functions, ceremonies and/or events. It is those instruments that are coupled with loud dynamics and even today they set the rhythm and create a vigorous ambience beat.

The manufacturing of my first percussions started out as a game, but later on I was enchanted by their sound and began experimenting with their shapes. Soon, a whole realm of inexhaustible creative potential opened up before me.

By means of close observation, research and careful listening, I started discovering elements that determine and enhance the sound, the functionality and the quality of the instrument. This is why each new instrument is something I view as an experiment.

Later, I started playing with the shapes and the innumerable combinations. Thanks to clay, a material with vast moulding and shaping potential, this game started becoming more and more exciting. It turned into art, in such a way that each instrument constitutes a work of art, a unique suggestion with an aesthetic and acoustic value.

I often work on traditional or classical instrument shapes, which have been processed for centuries having thus acquired the perfection, the functionality and ideal aesthetics. I modify those elements that I consider to be crucial for the improvement of the final product.

One of the improvements introduced is an electrical system for heating up the goat skin which has been added to some instruments and is the advanced version of system already applied. It basically aims at maintaining the tonality of the goat skin under any conditions.
